Agnes L. Bates

Agnes L. Bates Agnes L. Bates, age 92 of East Springfield, Pa. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 with her family by her side at her home. Agnes was born in New Kensington, Pa. on August 4, 1921, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Lelia (Keep) Rayburg. Agnes was a member of the West Springfield United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lynn Bates, on May 28, 1994. They were married on November 21, 1944. Also preceding her in death are her brothers, Robert and Sylvester “Dude” Rayburg and a sister-in-law, Mary Rayburg. Agnes is survived by a son, Jack L. Bates, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of East Springfield, Pa.; and three daughters: Naomi Wegmiller and her husband, Bud of East Springfield, Pa., Rebecca DiAngi and her husband, Philip of Girard, Pa., and Janet Regelmann and her husband, Duane also of East Springfield, Pa. She is also survived by a brother, Joseph Rayburg and a sister-in-law, Ruth Rayburg. Five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Services will be held privately at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Owens of the Asbury United Methodist Church of Erie, Pa., officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Jack, in Springfield Cemetery. Memorial donations In Memory of Agnes may be made to the City Mission, 1017 French Street, Erie, PA 16501.
