Barbara E. (Ransom) Hulley Blood
Barbara E. Blood, age 78 of East Springfield, was led home by the hand of God on Thursday, evening, Feb. 22, 2018 at her home with her family at her bedside.
Barbara was born in Springboro, Pa on July 27, 1939, the daughter of the late Harry W. and Alice LaVee (Rick) Ransom.
Barbara attended the Gun Town School House and graduated from the Conneaut Valley High School. She was wonderful around people. She enjoyed hosting events and people, working in-home nursing care, and was a great at home mom; which was the hardest job of them all.
She was a member of the Federated Church in East Springfield and belonged to the Stevens Ministry and to many missions. She also helped at the Albion Food Pantry, Operation Christmas Child, Wednesday Prayer Meetings, and helped with the Mops, Tots, and Pre-School organizations. She was a member of Springfield Service Circle and also Springfield Women’s Club for many years. She also taught Sunday School, she enjoyed sewing at the Church, Tabitha Sewing Club, gardening, canning, but most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren and teaching them all the things that she had learned to do that she enjoyed - her gift to them.
Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by two husbands, O. Ron Hulley and Tom Blood; four brothers, Mike, Harry, Robert and Norman Ransom; and a sister, Harriet Davis; four sons; and two daughters.
Barbara is survived by six children: Ron Hulley of W. Springfield, Garold Hulley of Fairview, Terry Hulley of N. Springfield, Tom Blood of Barre, Vermont, Kathy (Hulley) Zappitella of E. Springfield, and Kelly (Blood) Plucknett of E. Springfield; and two sisters: Marilyn Teudhope of Springboro and Carrie Foultz of Conneautville; and four brothers: Wayne Ransom of Springboro, Earnie Ransom of Conneautville, Johnny Ransom of East Springfield, and Gary Ransom of Wexford. She is also survived by 16 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Federated Church on Main Street in East Springfield on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 12 p.m. until the time of the Life Celebration Service at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Ed Huntley. Burial will immediately follow at the Springfield Cemetery where Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband Tom.
