Barbara Ann Hyde
Albion Borough , Conneaut Township, Northwestern Pennsylvania lost a true Icon yesterday. Our mother and matriarch, Barbara Ann Hyde passed suddenly with her family at her side.
She was definitely a staple in the Northwestern community starting at a young age leading the hometown parade with her horse Ginger. Her horsemanship continued for years participating in the Albion Fair Parade, leading it 13 years with her life-mate, Earl Knapp.
Her passion though was the children of Conneaut Township, getting them safely to and from school, year after year. She literally had some influence in safe transport of the community's children either as their driver or as the driver instructor to many other bus drivers. As late as this year, we would go out and most likely meet someone that would say, you were my bus driver, you were my children's bus driver, or you taught me how to drive.
She remained active in the Albion Fair "The biggest little fair around" even at 90 years of age. Loved the coffee house gatherings at the Little Church on the Hill, her church community at the Albion Nazarene Church and mostly, her daily friends at the Albion Senior Center. She loved being involved......
She was the most active and capable person of 90 years that I have ever known, even still driving herself to the center as late as this past Monday (24 March 2025). She spent most of her awake time working puzzles, watching game shows or taking care of the front-porch critters and her cat (Baby).
Mom took ill throughout Monday night and Tuesday morning and had to be admitted to St Vincents. This hit her, and us, like a brick. She was still strong enough to hold on until we arrived from Tennessee Thursday evening. She recognized us, told us she loved us, then passed onto glory a short time later.
Your 8 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren loved their G-ma and GG-ma.
A huge hole in our hearts. She truly was our Matriarch. She is the reason we remain strong. Mom, we love you and know you are still with us. See you on the other side.
