David A. Gibbs

David A. Gibbs, age 86 of Erie, Pa., passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Pleasant Ridge Manor where he had been recently residing. 

David was born in Fairview, Pa on June 4, 1935, the son of the late Archie E. and Edith M. (Darling) Gibbs.  He worked for many years as a cook and a baker on the ships of Great Lakes.  He had even worked on the Morrell before it sank and was transferred to the Sparrow Point.

Besides his parents, David is preceded in death by five sisters, Mabel McKee, Bettie Halstead, Franny Burmiester,  an infant, Idah Gibbs, and Beth Barker.  Also, a brother, Danny Gibbs and a nephew, Wayne Barker.

David is survived by nephews:  Robin, Tim (Cindy), Russ (April) Barker and a niece, Gail (Barker) Kelley and several other great nieces and nephews.

There will be no services or calling hours for David at this time.  Burial will be at a later time at Springfield Cemetery.
