Edward C. Hanzelka

Edward Hanzelka, age 84 of East Springfield, Pa. passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the Lawnwood Hospital in Ft. Pierce, FL while he was enjoying his winter retreat in Florida.

Edward was born in East Springfield, Pa., on Aril 15, 1938, the son of the late Carl and Margaret (Warhola) Hanzelka. 

He graduated from the Girard High School Class of 1956.   He served to protect our country in the U.S. Army from August 1960 through August 1963 serving over in Germany.   He worked for many years at Hays Manufacturing in Erie and retired from General Electric after 32 years of service.  He enjoyed hunting and was a life member of the VFW Post 4965 in West Springfield and the Girard American Legion Post 0494.

Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his girlfriend, Nancy Kephart in 2010 and a brother, Robert Hanzelka.

Ed is survived by his son, Ed A. Hanzelka (Shari Klemm) of Girard, Pa., and two brothers; Carl (Caroline) Hanzelka of Ashtabula, OH and Clancy Hanzelka of Girard, Pa.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours and services will be held at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral home at 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 2 to 4 pm with a Life Celebration Service to follow.   Ed will be laid to rest in Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield, PA.
