Edwin “Ed” Sterling, age 85 of Lake City, Pa. passed away quietly at Pleasant Ridge Manor, May 1, 2018.
Ed was born in Venango, Pennsylvania on June 7, 1932, the son of the late Ralph Hazen and Arlene Grace Trafton Bunker Sterling. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then after settling back home, he became the Chief of Police in Springboro in the late 1960’s and also drove school bus for the Conneaut Valley School District. In his later years, Ed worked for Copes Vulcan as a Security Officer and he also worked for Securitas as a contracted security officer specialist.
Ed was a member of the Albion Church of the Nazarene and the Conneaut Moose Club. He also was a member for many years of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Dept. as the Captain for the Fire Police. He enjoyed playing cards and old cars and he loved his cats.
Besides his parents, Ed is preceded in death by brothers; Gail and Norman Sterling and sisters; Florence and Pearl Sterling, Barb Andrews, Joyce Brown, Shirley Hale, Virginia Whitbread, and twin infant daughters.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barb Sterling and six sons; Keith, Brian, Cameron, Jeff, Gene and Preston and three daughters; Joy, Jolene and Hannah. He is also survived by four sisters; Jean Lehman, Phyllis Boyle, Janice Shaw, and Darlene Munschower and two brothers; Merle and Alvin Sterling and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and three generations of nieces and nephews.
