Gloria Jean (Cochran) Person

Gloria Jean Person, age 73, of West Springfield, Pa., died peacefully at the UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Gloria was born on September 18, 1948, the daughter of the late Alfred D. and Rose M. (Coleman) Cochran in Norfolk, VA.

She served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  She earned her Associate Degree as a Lab Technician at the Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY and retired from the Department of Defense in Fort Drum, NY.  She was a member of the Girard American Legion Post 494 and in her spare time, she enjoyed, reading, sewing, baking, and gardening.

Besides her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Lee Sayers, and two half-sisters:  Sally Lou and Anna Marie Miller.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Person whom she married on December 19, 1972 and a son, Robert Allen Person of Hephzibah, GA; and a sister, Katherine Louise Cochran of Rough & Ready, CA; and a brother, Alfred David Cochran of Louisville, KY.  Gloria is also survived by two grandchildren.

There will be no calling or services.  Arrangements are being handled by the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, East Springfield, PA.
