Harold J. Stevens, age 85 of Albion, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, February 4, 2014 at the Erie Veteran’s Administration Medical Center. Harold was born on September 24, 1928, the son of the late Frances Charles and Lillian Della (Betillian) Stevens in Cranesville, Pa. Harold retired as a Supervisor from PHB (formerly known as Parker White) in Fairview, Pa. where he had worked from 1965 until 1990. Previously, he had worked in a sawmill, forge in Ashtabula, Model Works in Girard, and the Bessemer Rail Road. He served proudly in the U.S. Army in the 11th Airborn Division as a Paratrooper and was a Corporal during the occupation in Japan. Besides his parents, Harold is preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Christine Stevens, one sister, Gladys J. Johnston, and two brothers; Frances W. and Clifford E. Stevens. Harold is survived by his wife, Evelyn P. Stevens and three daughters: Mary Ann Krieder (Lee Roy) of Orofino, ID, Debora Jane Bright (Robert B.) of East Springfield, PA, and Janet Marie Evans of Macan, GA; and three sons; Charles James Stevens (Pamela) of Albion, PA, Mark Anthony Stevens (Bonnie) of Albion, PA, and John Glenn Stevens (Kimberly) of Zebulon, NC. Harold is also survived by a brother, Earl Grant Stevens of Girard, PA and four sisters: Myra Irene Smith of Erie, PA, Mildred Joan Ogren of Albion, PA, Alice Marie Bricker of Albion, PA, and Norma June Bille of West Springfield, PA. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. A Life Celebration Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. David Kuchta, officiating and a luncheon will be served immediately after. Arrangements are under the direction of the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, East Springfield, Pa.
