Katherine Grace Nelson
Katherine G. Nelson, age 77 formerly of Eastlake, Ohio, passed away quietly on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the home of her Niece, Dawn Fenton in Springboro, Pa where she had been residing due to a long extended illness.
Katherine was born on May 19, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert and Grace (Miller) Nelson.
Katherine loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping at many different campgrounds. She was a long-time resident camper of the Jellystone Campground and Resort in Aurora, Ohio where she worked helping run the Putt Putt Course and ran ceramics in Boo Boo's Busy Barn, as well as camping at the Panther’s Walk RV Park in Naples, Florida. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, card games with her friends, and she was a huge fan of the Muppets and Kermit the Frog. She also enjoyed all the Disney Characters. Katherine also was very fond of her dogs. Since she never had children of her own, her nieces and nephews and her dogs were her life. She loved them all. When Katherine was living in Eastlake, Ohio, she was a member of the Mentor United Methodist Church where she helped as a “Sunday Greeter.”
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Bud” Nelson, Jr. and a niece, Anna Nelson.
She is survived by her sister, Deborah (Bill) Knoch of Eastlake, Ohio and her brother, William “Bill” Nelson (Debbie Waters Nelson) of Taccoa, GA. Also many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Willoughby Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 11 a.m. Pastor Peggy Streiff, officiating with Local arrangements are being handled by the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home in East Springfield, Pa with Graveside Services being handled by the Davis Babcock Funeral Home in Willoughby, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made In Memory of Katherine to your local Humane Society.
