Kay A. Best, age 81 of West Springfield, Pa., passed away Thursday afternoon, December 16, 2021 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie.
Kay was born on May 25, 1940 in New Salem, Pa, the daughter to the late Harry and Blanche (Molton) Wells. She was a hard worker, retiring from Johnson Controls after 16 years of service and then she decided that she didn’t like retirement, so she became a wonderful knowledgeable person at Wal-Mart in the garden area which she really enjoyed.
In her spare time and in her earlier years, Kay enjoyed crafting, bead work, plastic canvas, crotchet, knitting, and especially hiking in the Allegheny Mountains.
Besides her parents, Kay is preceded in death by her life partner, Jim DuMars, her son, Marlyn Best, Jr. and a daughter, Frances Gibbons.
She is survived by four children: David (Beverly) Best, Cheryl Durden, Holly Postupack, and Dale (Dianna) Best, and a Step-Daughter, Donna Kuffer. She is also blessed and survived by nine grandchildren: Bonnie, April, Kyle, Alex, Shyene, Chasity, Adam, Veronica, and Dustin along with fourteen Great-Grandchildren: Avery and Jordan, Meredith and Dawson, Jayce, Lucas and Liam, Gary, Sophia, and Tucker; and Landon, Logan, Haley, and Tyler.
No calling or services will be held at this time. A private memorial service will be held a later time at the convenience of the family.
