Marilyn J. Strait

Marilyn June (Drury) Strait of Albion passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023. She was born June 16, 1935, daughter of the late Lynn and Retta (Case) Drury.

 

After graduating from Albion High School in 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, John "Jack" Strait on September 14, 1954. The couple had seven children, 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.

 

She attended Edinboro University and had many jobs including working for Head Start, selling real estate, managing the Albion V.F.W with her husband, clerical work for the Veterans of Foreign Affairs and PA Senator Buzz Andrezeski, a Notary public and she sold Avon for over 30 years.

 

A longtime member of the West Erie County Democrats, she served as head Chairwoman, secretary/treasurer and helped run their booth at the Albion Fair. She was a president of the Northwest Democratic Women. For six years she served as a Supervisor and secretary for Conneaut Township Municipality.

 

She enjoyed reading, game shows, playing cards and the Golden Girls but above all she loved corresponding with her large family and group of friends from all over the country through cards, letters, phone calls and visits.

 

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Jack, granddaughter Heather, grandson Keith,

great-granddaughter Adeley, son-in-law Dale, siblings Ernie (Ruth), Viola (Jack), Kitty, Linnie (Ted), Buck (Cliff), Chuck, Alice (Lester), brother-in-laws Grady, Ed and Sobie, sister-in-laws Ida Lou, Nadine and Daisy and her beloved dogs Cleo, Venus and Leonard.

 

Surviving are children; Jack (Doreen), Tim, Sam (Steph), Brenda (Mike), Tom, PJ, Connie (Greg), sister Wilma and sister-in-laws Audrey, Carol, Cookie and Judy as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Marilyn's family would like to thank her caregivers at Rolling Fields Elder Care, home health caregivers Holly, Terri and Deb, Dr. David and Kippy Bodosky and staff, the Cranesville Fire Department and West County Paramedics for all of their help.

 

Arrangements are being handled by the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home. Per Marilyn's request no services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date (to be determined). Interment Will be at Marilyn's beloved family cemetery, Drury Cemetery, in Girard, PA.
