Mary Fitch, age 88 of Girard, Pa., took the hand of God Saturday morning, November 26, 2022 at Pleasant Ridge Manor where she had been residing.

Mary was born on April 17, 1934 in Cranesville, Pa., the daughter of the late Ralph P. and Mary A. (Bricker) Vorse, Sr.

Mary was a hard worker her entire life.  She had worked at the St. Vincent’s Hospital and the Erie Infant’s Home as a child care technician.  She loved helping the children and anything that kept her closer to God.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in God on Rt. 18 in Albion.  She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, raising her children and loved taking care of her grandchildren.  She deeply loved each and every one of them.

Besides her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Fitch on June 21, 2003 and three sisters; Melva Olesnanik, Edith Kinney, and Ann Goodreau and three brothers; Ralph P. Jr., Harold L. and John E. Vorse.

Mary is survived by six children:  Margaret F. Sipes, Timothy E. (Julia) Fitch, Barbara L. Maas, Thomas E. (Cheryl) Fitch, Jack R. Fitch, and Rebecca S. (David) Williams.  She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Crandall; and two brothers, Frank D. and Charles A. Vorse.  She is blessed by 15 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to celebrate Mary’s life at the Church of Jesus Christ in God on Rt. 18 in Albion on Friday morning at 10 a.m. with Pastor James Shumake, officiating.  Burial will follow at Platea Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her dear husband, Harold.
