Mary Lou (Himes) Thomas

Mary Lou Thomas, age 73 of West Springfield, Pa. was called home early Thursday morning, May 21, 2015 at the Pleasant Ridge Manor-West in Fairview, Pa. where she had been residing for the past few years. 

Mary Lou was born in Erie, Pa. on September 26, 1941, the daughter of the late Jay Edward and Dorothy Mae (Whitford) Himes.

She graduated from Girard High School and worked at several places over the years in quality inspection control.  She had worked at General Aluminum in Conneaut, American Meter and Johnson Controls in Erie to name a few.  Mary Lou worked very hard.  She had a small wood working business called, “Country Creations” on route 20 in West Springfield for many years.  She enjoyed woodworking and building birdhouses and designing yard ornaments.  She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds.   

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by husbands, Francis “Dusty” Thomas, Albert Trujillo, and Harvey Hirby.

Mary Lou is survived by her two daughters; Candence “Candee” Hirby of Shreveport, Louisana and Tami Morrill and her husband, Gary of Anchorage, Alaska and a son, Joseph Jay Trujillo and his wife, Sarah of West Springfield, Pa.  She is also survived by a sister, Wilma J. Evans and her husband, Roland of East Springfield, Pa., and a brother, Gerald “Jerry” Himes and his wife, Judy of Fleming Island, FL.  Mary Lou is also survived by four Grandchildren:  Trinity and Jessica Sherman, Katie and Jacob Jay Trujillo and eight  Great-Grandchildren:  Zaeshon, Empress, Jamare’, McKenzie, and Kynna Sherman and Ainsley Trujillo, Charlotte Benzel, and Brody Fuchs  and several nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends are invited to call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from Noon to the time of the Services at 2 p.m. with Pastor Net Gerber of the West Springfield United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow at Springfield Cemetery.
