Melvin Harry Schultz

Melvin Schultz, age 92, formerly of East Springfield, Pa, passed away quietly at the Western Reserve Healthcare Center in Erie where he had been residing on Sunday, January 10, 2021.

Melvin was born on May 11, 1928, the son of the late Harry and Lucy English Schultz.  After he graduated from Girard High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines where he served two tours of duty from 1946 to 1950 during WW II ending up in China in 1950 as a Sargent.   He retired from Erie Casket Co.   He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, woodworking, camping, boating, traveling the US on his motorcycle and car and golfing.  The family would like to thank ALL the wonderful staff at Western for the love and care they gave their parents!

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Georgia May Schultz and six sisters and two brothers.

Melvin is survived by a daughter, Sandra Flanagan Geisler (Gary) of Warren, Pa and two sons; Michael Schultz (Cindy) of Waterford, Pa; and Larry Schultz (Nadine) of Erie, Pa. and a brother, Cecil Schultz in Florida.  He is also survived by six wonderful grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home in East Springfield, Pa.   Please visit www.jeanevansthompsonfh.com to light a candle and leave a message of sympathy for the family in memory of Melvin.  A private family service will be held at Erie County Memorial Gardens where he and Georgia will be laid to rest together.
