Robert Joseph Bright
Robert Bright, 94, of West Springfield, PA, died Monday, June 17, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA.
He was born on February 16, 1930 in Erie, PA, a son of Walter Joseph Bright and Dorothy {Grentz) Bright.
Robert attended Tech Memorial High School and Gannon College. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Ordnance in the Korean War. Robert retired from the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad. He belonged to the American Legion and the Conneaut Railroad Museum.
Robert was an avid bowler and woodworker, but what he loved most was tinkering in his garage. A skillful mechanic and electrician, he was singularly gifted with diagnosing his children's and grandchildren's automobile issues, even over the phone. Creative and frugal, he renovated what was originally a summer house into a warm country home for his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Freda Carol Bright and his four siblings, Mildred Jenks, Walter Bright, Elizabeth Bright and Jacqueline Patton.
He is survived by his children Robert B. {Debora) Bright, Susan D. {William Charles) Johnson, Laurie A. {Glenn) Gollmer, Michael J. {Tina) Bright, Jennifer B. {Kier) Tinker. Known as "Papa", he is further survived by his 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 10am-12pm. Services will follow.
