Shirley L. Copeland

Shirley L. Copeland, age 78 of Albion, Pa., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 3, 2024 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa.

Shirley was born in Erie, Pa on December 10, 1945, the daughter of the late William and Charlotte (Conferpost) Zeigler.  She graduated from the General McLane High School and worked full and part-time for 25 years at the Albion Nazarene Church which she was a member of since 1961.   She was very active in the church as the funeral dinner coordinator.  She also cleaned houses for people.  

In her earlier years, Shirley was very active in the Nazarene Women’s Society.  She was a strong woman of faith and a prayer Warrior for not only her family but anyone who needed extra prayers.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening flowers and growing tomatoes and peppers.  She was also known for the beautiful Lilies that she grew.  She was a very active woman and enjoyed her family and helping others.

Besides her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Tyson Copeland; two brothers, Pete and Bill; and two sisters, Jane and Beverly.  

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Niles L. Copeland, Sr.  They were married on September 10, 1965, and also a son, Niles L. Copeland, Jr. and his wife, Tonie and a daughter, Lorilei L. Ramey and her husband, James, and a daughter-in-law, Shana Copeland.  She is further survived by a sister; Lynn (Jim) Barry, and two brothers; Don (Nancy) Craig and Chuck Craig. She will be missed by her eight wonderful grandchildren:  Niles III, Autumn (Anthony) Joanow, B. Ramey (Carrie), Brittany Ramey, Brianna and Brennan Ramey, as well as Liam and Landon Copeland.  Marko Anthony Joanow is not born yet, but he will make the first great-grandson.

A Life Celebration to Honor Shirley’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11 a.m.  At the Albion Nazarene Church,  9580 U.S. Rt. 6N, Albion, Pa., with Revs. Wayne Hennen and

Trevor Oates.
