Shirley M. Nelson

Shirley M. Nelson, age 96 of Albion, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at her home with her family by her side.

Shirley was born In Corry, Pa., on February 27, 1929, the daughter of the late Raymond and Arletta (Riede) Caufman. She Graduated from the Erie Academy High School and worked as a hand-telephone operator in Erie until she had her children and then returned to work later in life at the Hopkins Manufacturing in Girard, Pa. She enjoyed horses and when she was a child, she liked to ride and take care of her own horse, Roney, that was a retired racehorse. She also enjoyed helping the ladies out and catering at church dinners at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Albion.

Besides her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Ahlbrandt in 1980 and a son, Carl "Butch" Ahlbrandt, on Oct. 6, 2023

She is survived by her two daughters, Faye C. Ahlbrandt and Wendy Otteni and a son, Lawrence Ahlbrandt all of Albion, Pa. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no services for Shirley at this time. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield, Pa. Arrangements are being handled by the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, East Springfield, Pa., (www.jeanevansthompsonfh.com)
