Wesley A. Pettis
Wes Pettis, age 67 of Albion, Pennsylvania, died peacefully at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa on early Saturday morning, April 19, 2025.
Wes was born in Erie, Pa on June 14, 1957, the son of the late Virgil Leroy and Eileen Mae (Mansfield) Pettis. He grew up with two brothers; Daniel and Virgil, Jr. He graduated from Girard High School and started work early during his school years working at Grettler’s Meat Market on his way home from school. His job was “Bone Boy” while working at Grettler’s, he learned to cut and process all kinds of meat and and retired as a meat processor at what is today known as Giant Eagle in Girard.
He attended the Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed the water. Wes liked to run a speed boat and also learned to sail a sailboat. He enjoyed boating and watching the Tall Ships when they came into the Erie Port.
Besides his parents, Wes is preceded in death by a brother, Virgil, Jr; and a nephew, Joseph Roman, and his in-laws, Richard and Bernie Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Sue (Lowing) whom he married on February 14, 1976. They were married 49 years this Valentine’s Day. Wes is also survived by three daughters: Dawn Apperson of Mississippi, Deanna Pettis of Girard, and Amy Pettis of Pittsburgh and a brother, Daniel Pettis of Texas. He will be sadly missed by seven grandchildren: Alexa Anne Apperson, Elijah, David Pettis, Jonathon, Austin, and Brianna Kinney, and Scarlett Pettis.
